PowerUp Chess Program at Parley Park Elementary- Winter

The PowerUp Chess Program is a FUN 6-Week After-School Chess Program is an introductory Chess Program. Students learn basic piece movement, checkmate, stalemate, and castling. Repeating this course 2-3 times, or until mastery of the basic concepts is attained, is highly recommended to develop a solid chess foundation. Some of the documented benefits of chess instruction are improved critical thinking skills, increased math and verbal test scores, and a myriad of varied life skills. This program is a perfect fit for any student who wants to PowerUp their mind while having FUN and learning the basics of chess!

What is included with your registration:

• Premium 1-hr weekly chess instruction from a trained PowerChess instructor

• Ability to win weekly chess prizes and play in-class tournaments

Class Schedule: Fridays from 12:40-1:40 Starting on October 27th and running through December 8th. No Class November 24th Thanksgiving Break. 

PowerUP Programa de Ajedrez

El Programa de Ajedrez “PowerUp” es un Programa de Ajedrez Extracurricular DIVERTIDO de 6 Semanas es un Programa de Ajedrez introductorio. Los estudiantes aprenden el movimiento básico de las piezas, el jaque mate, el tablas y el enroque. Se recomienda encarecidamente repetir este curso 2 o 3 veces, o hasta que se logre el dominio de los conceptos básicos, para desarrollar una base sólida de ajedrez. Algunos de los beneficios documentados de la enseñanza del ajedrez son mejores habilidades de pensamiento crítico, mayores puntajes en pruebas verbales y de matemáticas, y una gran variedad de habilidades para la vida. ¡Este programa es perfecto para cualquier estudiante que quiera potenciar su mente mientras se DIVIERTE y aprende los conceptos básicos del ajedrez!
