PowerUp Chess Program at Freedom Prep- Vineyard Campus Fall 2023

The PowerUp Chess Program is a FUN 6-Week After-School Chess Program is an introductory Chess Program. Students learn basic piece movement, checkmate, stalemate, and castling. Repeating this course 2-3 times, or until mastery of the basic concepts is attained, is highly recommended to develop a solid chess foundation. Some of the documented benefits of chess instruction are improved critical thinking skills, increased math and verbal test scores, and a myriad of varied life skills. This program is a perfect fit for any student who wants to PowerUp their mind while having FUN and learning the basics of chess!

Classes begin on August 29th and meet every Tuesday until October 3rd

Students who have completed a PowerChess Program before are welcome to join the PowerUp program to reveiw the FUNdamentals of chess and practice leadership skills before the tournament chess program begins later in the semester.
