Community Chess Programs - All Ages
PowerChess is excited to announce that we are making our PowerChess programs available at select community centers in Salt Lake City and the surrounding areas. These classes are open to students and players of ALL AGES and at a price point to make learning a new skill affordable, $99 for our 6-week courses, and FUN!

For Spring 2024, the Dimple Dell Rec Center will host two PowerChess programs: the PowerUp Chess program, an introductory chess program, on Tuesdays from 6:00-7:00 PM, and the Tournament Chess program from 7:10-8:10 PM.
The PowerUp Chess Program is perfect for the player just starting their journey to chess mastery, while the Tournament Chess Program will allow players familiar with chess to take their next step toward mastery, learning new tactical patterns and other critical chess concepts through a mix of instruction and chess play.
All classes will be taught by a trained PowerChess coach, using the proprietary PowerChess Curriculum.

Draper Rec Center

For Spring 2024, the Draper Rec Center will host two PowerChess programs: the PowerUp Chess program, an introductory chess program, on Thursday from 5:45-6:45 PM, and the Tournament Chess program from 7-8 PM.
The PowerUp Chess Program is perfect for the player just starting their journey to chess mastery, while the Tournament Chess Program will allow players familiar with chess to take their next step toward mastery, learning new tactical patterns and other critical chess concepts through a mix of instruction and chess play.

Holladay Rec Center

Beginning on March 20th, the Holladay Rec Center will host two PowerChess programs: the PowerUp Chess program, an introductory chess program, on Wednesdays from 5:45-6:45 PM, and the Tournament Chess program from 7-8 PM.
The PowerUp Chess Program is perfect for the player just starting their journey to chess mastery, while the Tournament Chess Program will allow players familiar with chess to take their next step toward mastery, learning new tactical patterns and other critical chess concepts through a mix of instruction and chess play.

JL Sorensen Rec Center (Herriman)
Beginning Monday, January 18th from 7:00-8:00 PM PowerChess will run a 6-week Tournament Chess program at the JL Sorensen Rec Center.
This program is geared towards students who know the foundational principles of chess and want to take their chess to the next level by playing in weekly tournament chess games and learn new tactical patterns and other advanced chess patterns. PowerChess suggests a USCF rating of at least 100 -1000 for this program.
This program will be taught by a trained PowerChess coach, using the proprietary PowerChess Curriculum.

Tournament Chess Program Mondays from 7:00-8:00
Orem Rec Center (Hillcrest)
For Spring 2024, the Orem Rec Center-Hillcrest will host two PowerChess programs: the PowerUp Chess program, an introductory chess program, on Mondays from 4:30-5:30 PM, and the Tournament Chess program from 5:40-6:40 PM.
The PowerUp Chess Program is perfect for the player just starting their journey to chess mastery, while the Tournament Chess Program will allow players familiar with chess to take their next step toward mastery, learning new tactical patterns and other critical chess concepts through a mix of instruction and chess play.
All classes will be taught by a trained PowerChess coach, using the proprietary PowerChess Curriculum.

For Spring 2024, the Murray Rec Center will host two PowerChess programs: the PowerUp Chess program, an introductory chess program, on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30 PM, and the Tournament Chess program on Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30 PM.
The PowerUp Chess Program is perfect for the player just starting their journey to chess mastery, while the Tournament Chess Program will allow players familiar with chess to take their next step toward mastery, learning new tactical patterns and other critical chess concepts through a mix of instruction and chess play.
