Tips on how to make your Child’s State Championships experience the best possible:
♟️Review with your child the basic tournament chess rules such as Touch Move, how to use a chess clock, being quiet during gameplay, and how to read a pairing sheet. (Students can learn more about these critical tournament skills by taking a PowerChess Program or working through the chesskid.com lessons.)
♟️Help them learn the basic checkmating patterns such as the Queen and King Checkmate, Rook Roller checkmate, Rook and King Checkmate, and Helper Checkmates. All of these checkmating patterns are taught in the PowerChess PowerUP program.
♟️Don’t make your child’s first over-the-board chess tournament the state championship! Sign up for one of the PowerChess Monthly tournaments to give your child experience playing in over-the-board tournaments.
♟️For additional information check out chesskid.com’s FREE parent’s chess handbook on how to help your child have the best tournament experience possible https://www.chesskid.com/resources/ebook
